IRIS Project

Decarbonizing the Future:Advancing Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) with Innovative Technologies

IRIS Project Newsletter 2024

About IRIS

IRIS project aims to decarbonize the Motor Oil Hellas (MOH) refinery by integrating cutting-edge Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies. The project is focused on enabling the production of ultra-low-carbon hydrogen and e-methanol, setting new industry standards for sustainable industrial practices. Through the deployment of advanced technologies, IRIS strives to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, offering impactful solutions for both the energy and industrial sectors.

Key Project Highlights

  • Objective: Integration of carbon capture technologies to produce green hydrogen and e-methanol.
  • Impact: Major contribution to the energy transition and sustainability efforts in Greece and beyond.
  • Technologies: Renewable Hydrogen Production, Carbon Capture Systems, and E-Methanol Plant Development.
  • EU Support: Funded by the EU’s Large-Scale Innovation Fund with a €127 million grant.
