The company was founded in 1970 and for over fifty years has been a pioneer leader of the energy sector in Greece, Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. Motor Oil owns the largest private industrial complex in Greece, one of the largest and most modern refineries in Europe, with a Nelson Complexity Index of 12.61, excelling in the processing and production of petroleum products.
Today, Motor Oil consists of 92 individual companies, branches in 8 different countries and supports the economy with exports to over 75 countries, thousands of employees, and constantly investing in new technologies and infrastructure. It is active in the refining of crude oil and the marketing of petroleum products, as well as LPG, electricity and gas trading, renewable energy, electrification, and circular economy.
At the same time, with a clear vision and strategic orientation to ensure energy security and promote energy transition, Motor Oil has announced a major investment program of €4 billion with a 2030 horizon which includes, among others, pioneering and innovative projects in the fields of CCUS, renewable and low carbon hydrogen, alternative and renewable fuels and digitalization.
